SPONSORSHIP AND GRANTS
When you are a young person, you’ve got your whole life ahead of you. No matter whether you’re from the countryside, the big city or the coast, you need life experience and good self confidence in order to get a good start in your future working life. No matter what branch or area each person goes on to work in, “Sail Training” is a tool that gives you some of the world’s best prospects!
Regardless of cultural, ethnic or social background young people between 15 and 25 years of age from all the corners of the world(!) can, under controlled and ordered circumstances, enlist on traditionally rigged sailing ships in order to learn how to sail, navigate and manoeuvre.
After participating as a trainee during the Tail Ships Races young people will - from experience - be able to say that they have …
… made new friends for life - in various different countries, from many different cultures
… improved language skills in, above all, English, but also in other languages
… had the chance to learn about what teamwork involves at an international level under pressing situations
… attained a noticeably improved cultural understanding
… found their real personal strengths - not just the one’s they already figured they had
… an out-and-out once in a lifetime experience!
… "found home"
We are always seeking new sponsors and benefactors
It is often the case that the young people who do not have the financial means to take on the roll of trainee are those who stand to benefit the most. The majority of young people who sail in the Tall Ships Races have never sailed before! They take on a challenge and acquire experience that stays with them their whole lives.
There is an enormous amount of young people in Sweden who dream of getting the chance to sail onboard a sailing ship. Sail Training Association of Sweden works (entirely without profit) to find sponsors and benefactors who can help as many of these young people as possible.
Do you represent a company, a foundation or an organisation that sees the good in the above, and/or can connect it to your own operations and focus?
Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us!
